Puffed rice balls snack made with caramelized sugar. With few ingredients readily available, this snack is perfect for the kids and us.
200 g of sugar
200 g of butter
400 g of condensed milk
100 g of chopped walnuts
150 g of puffed rice
Pour the sugar into a saucepan and stir until it melts. Add the butter and mix until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Add the condensed milk without stopping mixing. Pour the puffed rice and chopped walnuts into a large bowl and mix. Pour the caramel mixture from the pan over the rice and mix well. Refrigerate for two hours. Shape into balls and serve them together.
3 Caramel Sauce Treats:
You can use any jar of caramel sauce for these recipes, but avoid syrups, sauces, and bottled dulce de leche as they have a different texture.
1. Chocolate Chip and Caramel Pancakes:
Whisk together 1 cup of milk with 1 egg, 4 tablespoons of melted butter and 1/4 cup of caramel sauce. Add 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and salt; add 1/4 cup of chocolate chips. Cook 1/4 cup in a hot buttered skillet. Sprinkle with more caramel.
2. Caramel Granola:
Mix 3 cups of rolled oats with 1 cup of sliced almonds and grated sweetened coconut and 1 teaspoon of salt on a rimmed baking sheet. Heat 1/2 cup of caramel sauce in a saucepan with 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, whisking. Pour over the oat mixture and toss to combine. Bake at 250 degrees F, stirring every 15 minutes, until golden brown, 1 hour. Let it cool down.
3. Caramel Coffee Sauce Heat:
1 cup of strong coffee caramel sauce made with 1 cinnamon stick in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until thickened for 15 to 20 minutes. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla. Let it cool down; discard the cinnamon stick.
